The Quran competition will be through video submission and it is about recitation (Tilawah) not memorization (Hifdh).
Five finalists will be selected by Quran recitation judging panel based on: Tajwed rules, performance, voice, clarity of the recitation, beauty of Tarteel, fluency of recitation, harmony of lengthening (Mudood), and the respect of stopping and starting during recitation (Waqf and Ibtida’). These finalists will recite in front of the audience at the Rise of the Ummah conference on May 31st 2014. Public voting will be added to Judges voting to determine winners.
Deadline for submitting video is April 30th
Open to brothers and sisters of all ages
Recite from any Surah: Participants can choose from any part of the Quran they would like to recite
Must be present to win (Participants must be able to come to the conference on May 31st)
Video Requirements:
Video to be uploaded to your own YouTube channel (See resources below)
Video lengthy minimum 2 minutes maximum 3 minutes
High Quality close-up recording
Use good lighting source
Use of external microphone is highly recommended
You must consent to publish the video
Video will be rejected if it does not meet the minimum quality requirements.
